Five to 11 year old children are to be given a unique opportunity to try motorcycling for the very first time at the National BikeSafe Motorcycle show in June, hosted by South Yorkshire Police. The “My First Licence” scheme is operated by Honda UK and will be supported by BikeSafe at the National BikeSafe Motorcycle Show at Sheffield Arena on Saturday 12^th and Sunday 13^th June 2010.

My First Licence provides youngsters with a mock-up mini road system, including road markings, signs and other road furniture, to enable them to experience the fun of riding a restricted 50cc motorcycle in a safe environment. Experienced riding instructors look after them constantly and all safety equipment and clothing is provided and fitted before the fun starts.

Aside of the entertainment value, the scheme teaches aspiring young riders the basics of road safety, helps them to understand potential dangers and gives them an introduction to machine control.

At the end of the experience, children will be given a personalised licence that replicates the real thing!
